About CJ Montgomery

Our Story
CJ Montgomery grew up in Idaho and has spent his career in the Pacific Northwest. He holds a JD from the University of Idaho College of Law and an MBA from Washington State University. He was a co-founding attorney at Wheeler, Montgomery & Sleight Law Offices, where his practice focused on business formation, internet law, and advertising compliance. That background still informs how he runs the companies he operates.
He founded Speedwinds Nutrition in 2001, when selling supplements online was still uncommon. Speedwinds still operates today, with brands including Procerin and Sytropin.
In 2016 he founded CBDPure (Nutra Pure LLC) in Vancouver, WA, before hemp-derived CBD was widely sold at retail. After the 2018 Farm Bill, sales increased 6,500% that year. He ran the company through that growth period and sold it to a private investor in 2022.
He also served as interim president of Elevated Softgels, a hemp product manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest, and guided it through an operational build-out that preceded its acquisition by a public company.
Today he owns and operates Populum and Mirth Provisions, both in the hemp/CBD consumer space, alongside Speedwinds Nutrition. The companies are listed on the ventures page.
What We Stand For
The through-line is operational discipline in regulated consumer categories: product quality, careful marketing, and staying inside the rules that apply to dietary supplements and hemp/CBD.
His background in internet and advertising law means regulatory risk is treated as part of operating, not as an afterthought. In categories where the FTC and FDA pay close attention, that is simply the work.
CJ also maintains a legal practice at Montgomery Legal and serves on the leadership team at SWN Media.
